District of Columbia Office Market Report - 3Q18

The District of Columbia registered 214,501 square feet of net absorption in the third quarter of 2018. This is in line with recent performance: The District had averaged 209,210 square feet of quarterly absorption since the third quarter of 2017. The vacancy rate declined 50 basis points in the third quarter to 12.2%, partly because the completely vacant, 630,150-square-foot former Intelsat headquarters building in Uptown was removed from inventory, as it is undergoing renovation for conversion to the Whittle School.
